Messengers

November 16, 2007

“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. God your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.” (Luke 10:2-3)

That was Jesus’ command to seventy-two of his early disciples. They were told simply that there were A LOT of people who needed the Gospel, but few to spread it. He then let them know that while telling they would be met with opposition as they obeyed their calling.

Don’t ever forget that. One of the mistakes that some Christians make in order to be “accepted” as they share the Gospel is to change the message. Remember, we are the messengers, not the author. As we carry the message of the Gospel to our friends, family, and “enemies,” don’t change the message. Instead, deliver it in love, thinking of your recipient, in Christ’s words, “as better then yourself.”
